The first time I heard the word “love,” it was from my parents.  I knew they meant it because they showed it.  They provided me with food and clothes, they hugged me, and they supported me emotionally.  Their love was solid.

The next time I heard the word “love,” it was from a boy at school.

It was exciting at first, because I felt pretty, and accepted.  However, after a while, I no longer felt like I quite measured up.  And this feeling of approval and disapproval went back and forth for a few months until I realized that this love was on the murky side.

Did you know that God’s love for us is never murky?  He used his son, Jesus, to make his love very clear to us.  It is a love that comforts us when bad things happen.  It is a love that keeps giving even when we haven’t done anything special.  And most of all, this love will come full circle when we get to experience it in the everlasting life he promised to those who accept him.

For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world, that He even gave His one and only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him as Savior shall not perish, but have eternal life.(John 3:16 AMP)

Take a moment this week to recognize God for his incredible love for you.  It is a love you can count on and that will never end.
