It’s Time to Fill Up - A Word for the New Year

This time in our lives represents a chance to do it again. Dream again. Hope again. Start something new, or refresh something. It’s an exciting time.

Our ability to recognize contrast is what gets us excited about the future. Like white font on a black background, God wants to make a change in our lives that stands out. But, to experience something starkly different than what we had before, we must be filled.

Have you ever tried to be the change on your own? If you’ve attempted this, it’s exhausting. But, rest assured. If you depend on God fully, this season won’t be the same.

The truth of God’s word for your situation and the power of the Holy Spirit is what gives you the joy, the strength, and the faith to experience the change.

Start this week by asking God to fill you with his Spirit and to give you the supernatural ability to manage, avoid, and act on everything he speaks to you about your new season. Then, make plans to hang out by the streams of living water regularly, so you can stay ready for the exciting wave of blessing God has for you.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

What are you believing God for in this upcoming season? Keep your regular devotion to God, but don’t do it like a checkbox. Expand it to include enough time to seek him passionately with your authentic, heartfelt, earnest requests. He has not forgotten you.

God, thank you for touching my heart to believe you for a new year of hope and blessing. You are still with me just like you promised, and I want to be closer to you. I am looking forward to the comfort, peace, and wisdom you will give me every day on this renewed journey with you. Your faithfulness is amazing. In Jesus’ name; Amen.
