Faith Or Fancy - Today’s Encouragement

We can all acknowledge the difference in the way we get ready for a day at the office and a workday at home.  It’s the clothes.

But Jesus didn’t come for our fancy.  He didn’t say, Come well dressed and presentable, so that I can touch you and heal you.  In fact, he did the opposite.

He told the Pharisees, who were well dressed and probably knew the Torah by heart, You need me.

Then, on top of that, he made it very clear that anyone could come to him, and so they did.

People came to him through roof tops, crawling on the ground through crowds, and spectating through trees, because they had needs.  They had heard of the one who had the supernatural ability to save, heal, and restore, and they came to him.

So, if your soul is crying out for something to satisfy you this morning, don’t ignore it.

It is God who can fill you, encourage you, clean you, and bless you.  And the good part about it is, he’s not looking for your fancy. He’s looking for your faith and only needs a small amount of it to work with.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.  Colossians 1:15-17 ESV

Start simple.  Name one thing you love about God, and trust that part of his character as you start your prayer time today.

Today’s Morning Prayer

God, thank you that your love for me is always available.  No matter where I started today, I know that with you, I will end up in a more secure place.  Right now, I pray for direction for this day and ask you to help me recognize your presence in every part of it. Please take my heart, my plans, and my day and have your way with it.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
